Rain Garden
In 2007–2009, I collaborated with University of MN faculty member, Christine Baeumler; grad students, Toby Sisson, Laura Corcoran, Jamie Winter Dawson; the East Side Conservation Youth Corps, Lower Phalen Creek Project, and the City of Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation on a rain garden and public art piece that is now called the East Side Gateway Raingarden. The project consisted of designing and building a rain garden as well as facilitating a tile project that was implemented by the artistic team in collaboration with youth from the East Side Conservation Youth Corps. The youth made ceramic tiles that talked about their relationship to the Mississippi River Watershed. The tiles were then installed on an 80' long path that meandered through the lower swale of the garden.
